Why did you choose to pursue a career as a model?

I got into modeling to meet new people and to try and become more outgoing because I’m actually a very shy person.

What are some future goals as a model?

Currently, my goals with modeling are to travel the world. I would love to spend time in Asia and Europe.

How do you handle a situation where a photographer does not properly direct you?

When photographers don’t properly direct me, I ask lots of questions to figure out details of certain shoots or about photos.

How long have you been apart of the modeling industry?

I have been modeling for about 2 years now.

What are you excited about next with your career?

This summer I am going to be starring in my first movie and I am super excited for what is to come involving that. I hope to continue modeling throughout the next few years.

Name a business venture you are considering to excel your current career?

Interning for Kelsie O’brien for 816 Studio. I help prepare posts for social media, I’ve model coached, and I help out with whatever is needed

TORIRU Clothing

IMG_1032.JPG

Toriru. A street apparel brand clashing with Anime inspirations.  Looking to take on the fall of 2019 with new merch you can view below.

I would like to introduce the creator of this clothing brand, Terrence Lindsey.

Why did you decide to choose fashion designing as a career?

I chose fashion designing as a career as a way of telling my story by expressing my inner deeper thoughts.

The designs you created are no doubt good enough, but who and which things were your inspiration while creating such designs?
My brand is deeply influenced by Japanese anime culture. I was introduced to anime The way the shows portrayed stories about supernatural power was very beautiful to watch. While brainstorming about the designs of my brand I wanted to ensure they consisted of distinctive imagery yet relatable.

Define fashion?
Fashion is unlimited expression consisting of an ideal storytelling mechanism.

How do you stay up to date regarding fashion?
I stay up to date by following different brands on all social media platforms.

How would you describe your personal style?
I don’t like to look like everyone else. The point isn’t to stand out but more so to be myself. Whether I dress up or dress down I’m always going to incorporate my own vision into the clothing I wear.

How would you relate past and present fashion trends?

Fashion trends from the past are just being revamped in the present. For example Fannypack’s made a huge comeback last year. You saw fanny packs with fur and 3M, both materials which were not incorporated into the past designs.

Explain a typical day in the world of TORIRU?
A typical day consist of fast pace and lots of moving a round.

What’s next for TORIRU?
All I have to say is stay tune.

How can someone contact you for business or customer pieces?

TAY PRICE FILMS

IMG_1021.JPG

A self-proclaimed photographer established out of Las Vegas, NV. This lensman has constantly pushed the envelope with his work. These images capture art and life seamlessly.

Now with his newest venture, partnering to travel the world abroad to bring us his creativity. More magical moments will be appearing soon with his vision. I can’t help but to imagine what’s next with TayPrice behind the canon 5D Mark iii.

Below you can learn more about his artistic approach and lifestyle.

How long have you been in the industry, and when did you know this would be a career?

Ive been in videography/photography for 10 years. I’d say I started pushing for it as a career around 2013 when I got fired from my job at the time. I Figured I could focus more on my craft since I had more time on my hands.

What equipment do you use?

There’s a long list of equipment that’s used depending on what exactly you’re trying to achieve. But the canon 5D Mark iii is my work horse.

Exactly what is it that you want to say with your photographs, and how do you actually get your photographs to do that?

I try to give an overall vibe with my images. I’d say strength, elegance and ferocity.

What’s one thing you wish you knew when you started your career?

I wish I focused on more of the business side earlier but there’s definitely levels and knowledge that’s obtained at each level. So I’ve learned to enjoy the process.

How do you educate yourself to take better photos?

I’m a visual learner. So I’ll spend time digging through inspiration on Pinterest, IG etc.

What is the most rewarding part of being a photographer for you?

I’d say traveling. Being able to do what I love and traveling with it to different parts of the world.

Whats the best advice for an upcoming photographer?

Remain a student. Stay focused and always look for ways to improve at what you do.

Made MOBB Urban Apparel

14322226_2915824976910_5228817435504512755_n.jpg

Made MOBB apparel. A brand originated out of the midwest. Now going into there 5th season, the brand has established itself right in the heart of America. This is stated because the 1st official flagship store has been built in Kansas City, Mo. Learn more about Made MOBB apparel and it’s owner below.

MADE clothing has been around quite some time now. You now have store fronts. How did this vision start?

Vision started back in 2012 inspired by hip-hop artist Juicy J. At work, a gentleman walks in with a “Trippy Mane” shirt. Me and a co-worker looked at each other and laughed, we knew we could do better. So, we did. Before the idea even came to be to team up, we always wanted to do it on our own but this time was different, we decided to put our recourses together and started our own brand.

How do you get unstuck creatively?

We find inspiration from being around each other. My team consist of 8 other guys from different backgrounds. We are referred to as The MOBB. A group from diff cultures and majority being first generation to this country.

If you could go back and tell yourself one thing before beginning your career what would it be?

If I could go back and tell myself something before the beginning it’d definitely be to start sooner and get out being exposed more. Growing up south kc as a kid you’re very limited. Resources and opportunities to come often and that played huge part of being creative.

What was the biggest rookie mistake you made when just starting out?

Biggest rookie mistake? Every mistake we made taught us move more precise. Without mistakes you simply can’t grow. I actually love running into setbacks and learning from them.

How is working in fashion different today than from when you started out?

Fashion today isn’t so much different, I think it repeats itself. For us we just stick to simplicity. We’re transitioning into cut and sew so we take more pride in details and quality of the garment.

What role do you think social media plays in fashion today?

Social media is the new wave. Everyone have one and big companies all use them. Is a way to stay in contact with the millennials and with people in general. Every brand needs to have one if they don’t, no better way of getting your work out.

What was your biggest fear when going out and starting your own line?

My biggest fear when I first started was not having the funds nor the connections. Honestly even not having the resources because I had no idea where to start. All I know was I had the passion and grind for it. Luckily I met couple amazing guys who are now business partners Vu Radley and Jonathan Platz. Together we just learned and figured things out along the way.

There’s so much pressure for designers to come out with their greatest collection season after season. What advice would you give to young designers just starting out and hoping to make it in the industry?

My biggest advice is to start. Most ppl just contemplate on an idea and eventually talk themselves out of it. Believe !! You’ll never know where you’ll be and can accomplish if you never start.

Who you’re around is key. Positivity is key, having mental health is huge.

Exploring Designers: Balenciaga

balenciaga-new-logo.png

Balenciaga was founded in 1919 in Donostia, better known as San Sebastian, Spain.

The Luxury Fashion house was founded by Cristóbal Balenciaga. The brand was designed by Mr. Balenciaga himself until 1968. Since then there have been other great designers such as Michel Goma, who broke the brand into everyday wear for women. Alexander Wang, and also Demna Gvasalia who would be the latest creative director.

This brand has made its way back into the culture with its array of sneakers and other cool ready-to-wear options.

Styles and vibes provided by this wardrobe entail so much variety, but also simplicity. Recently the couturier put a big foot on the culture with the triple S sneakers,  as well as other comfortable options such as the speed trainers, race runners, and arena sneakers. These products have allowed Balenciaga to be in tune with the youth. Establishing the connection with the younger generation has made an impression on the luxury house's apparel, as well. I can personally say last season’s F/W line "sinners" would be one of my favorites out of their entire collection. This attire and these pieces meshed very well with street fashion. What excited me most about the 2017 F/W line was that the color scheme consisted of dark colors. The 2018 line has been filled with more options. The dad campaign hat and graphic tees have also been a score, and are fitting for fall or winter.

The company is currently owned by Kering, a company that specializes in luxury goods.

Kering also owns other brands such as  Alexander McQueen, Yves Saint Laurent, Gucci, etc, so you know the creative direction will be gravitating. Balenciaga continues to make staple pieces. I assure you that the new material provided this season will not fail your fashion sense.

The F/W 2018 lookbook is available now.

House of Rena

Welcome to the House of Rena. Where contemporary & modern day style rules all!

These pieces are handcrafted by the lovely Eranne Whiters. Her work shows that she's well versed with a sewing machine. House of Rena features an array of dresses, blouses, bottoms, and outerwear.  Pieces that compliment any occasion. HOR's current featured piece would be the "Stella" (strapless dress). Available in colors like Bubblegum pink, Tomato Red, and more!

In our Q & A below you can learn more about her and the brand. Click here to SHOP.

Your brand has blossomed so much, where did the name House of Rena come from?

“Rena was my grandmother’s middle name. She used to sew and would make some of my clothes when I was a kid. She never got the chance to see me sew so it’s like paying homage to her. She also was one of the best dressed women I knew. The “House of” part came from fashion houses & designers from the 19th century, like when Coco Chanel. For example, when Coco Chanel started, her brand was House of Chanel. So I wanted to incorporate something from history.”

How did you get your start with styling?

“During my last year of college, I decided I wanted to pursue visual merchandising as a career. I was able to take visual merchandising classes while in college & assist visual merchandisers while working as a sales associate where I discovered some retail stores allowed their associates to have creative freedom while dressing mannequins. I soon found out afterwards that styling was a “thing” ...a job, a career! After college, I found this profile called “School of Style” on Twitter and asked the co-founder tons of questions on how to get started and she advised I come to class!Over the next two years, I attended a couple of classes in L.A where I learned the ins and outs of wardrobe and personal styling. So yeah, that’s where it started.”

What inspires you the most to be apart of the fashion industry?

“What inspires me the most to be in the fashion industry is the creative freedom I have. Technically I can create anything & call it fashion. I also feel that fashion is connected to art which is actually how I got started in fashion. All through school and my first 2 years in college, drawing Still Life was “my jam”. In middle school, is when I started drawing T-shirts and other clothing items randomly and then I found out designing clothes was a career and I stuck with it ever since.”

Do you have any new material or concepts your working on?

“Right now, I’m just working on getting more Summer items out and working on Fall/Winter/Holiday concepts and ideas.”

How can someone contact you for customs pieces

“I’m very selective right now on what custom work I do, but people can contact me through my social media pages or email:info@houseOfRena.com

NEXT EVENT:
Nothing set in stone at the moment, but I’m working on something for the fall.

Tips to Slay the Brow

Eyebrows should be combed with a spoolie brush so all hairs are laid down in place. Once finish, add translucent loose setting powder starting at the brow head. This application can set momentarily before dusting off the debris or unnecessary powder. Helping you absorb all possible oils for a clean canvas of the eyebrow area to ensure a brow outline of your liking.
Next, outline the bottom portion of your eyebrow with your favorite concealer
